Participants: Marcel Łoziński, Jacek Bławut, Katarzyna Boniecka, Victoria Ogneva
December 20th, 2014 was the day of the premiere screening of the film "Istanbul from Dawn till Dusk". The cinema in Bahçeşehir Üniversitesi brought together professors, students and their friends to watch the film in a cozy atmosphere and talk about it with the Polish crew: tutors Jack Blawut and Marcel Lozinski, editor Katarzyna Boniecka and coordinator Victoria Ogneva. After the lights came on, it was obvious that the film moved many people. Several viewers admitted that they were particularly touched by the episode about the sick mum of one of the students. Edited in a sensitive and poetic style, it touched many and moved them to tears.
The film led to an interesting and fruitful discussion about editing and its place in documentary films, working with the material and building the structure of a film. The conversation focused on how the students showed Istanbul and the people living in it, and how they managed to demonstrate its diversity and the contrasts within the city. The spectators shared their experiences, exchanged opinions, thoughts and emotions. In the evening, the students met with their masters to celebrate the completion of the project in a casual atmosphere.
